Where we live, we get cold weather, but we don’t really get snow. K and A have been fascinated with snow when we come across it on TV shows or in books. When we asked K what he wanted for Christmas he said, “SNOW!”

Hmmmm, I figured we could possibly drive north to catch some snow and play around for a few hours, but then it occurred to me that there must be a way to “make snow.” Find a very easy recipe on how to make some “snow” for an amazingly fun sensory play activity.

I recently heard that a friend made snow, but one of the ingredients was cornstarch. Not sure about the rest of the recipe. So I gave it some thought and went with what was handy and practical for me at the time.

I chose to try a two-ingredient recipe and it worked out really well.

Ingredients:

1 can of shaving cream(regular size, original scent, unless you want your kids smelling like
a man afterwards,haha)
1 box of baking soda

Yes, that’s it!

Just mix both around until you get the consistency you want.

The more baking soda you use, the thicker it will be (like for snow balls or snowmen).

We wanted the softer, fluffier kind of snow, so we used two can of shaving cream and just one box of baking soda. It worked out wonderfully! You should try it!

At the end, they all got hosed off (got off as much as possible) and hosed off the driveway. It was so easy to clean! My kids took a bath afterwards.

Here are some pictures. Enjoy. 🙂

It looks like the kids are having a blast! I’ve never tried this recipe but in our house shaving cream alone is all that’s needed 🙂

True. The baking soda makes it thicker, like for making snowballs for a snowball fight or for building little snowmen. 🙂

This is a great idea, my seniors can’t get out in the cold weather, so this will be a great sensory project for them to remember their past.
